Join the Vot-ER Peer Pods Pilot

When clinicians have other clinicians to compare notes with, they use their badges more, feel more confident doing it, and reach more patients. Sign up to get connected this election season.

By signing up, you're joining a pilot study that helps Vot-ER understand which kinds of support make the biggest difference for volunteers, in partnership with a researcher at Pepperdine University. You'll be assigned at random either to a Peer Pod or to keep volunteering as you do now. Either way, your participation helps us build better support for Vot-ER volunteers.

As part of the study, we'll ask you to complete two short (about 5-minute) surveys over the course of the study -- between signing up and through the November election -- whether or not you're placed in a pod. You'll need to complete both to be eligible for a drawing for a $100 gift card.

Taking part in Vot-ER doesn't depend on joining this study, and you can withdraw at any time. Your responses are kept confidential.

Purpose and what’s involved: The study tests whether small online peer groups help volunteers stay engaged and feel more connected, comparing volunteers placed in a pod with those who continue as usual. After signing up, you will take a short baseline survey, then be randomly assigned to either a pod or an individual track. A second short survey follows after the November election. Pods are self-paced, with no obligatory meetings or assignments. Alongside survey answers, we will analyze badge scan activity already accessible via Vot-ER’s databases. Risks and benefits: No risks are expected beyond those of everyday life. Your responses will be kept confidential. The main risk is a minimal chance of a privacy breach that could expose the link between your name, your survey answers, and badge activity. We limit this by collecting only what’s needed, storing it securely with restricted access, and reporting results only in combined form in a way that will not identify you. You may not benefit directly, though clinicians in a pod may feel more connected and supported.
